We submit to Christ as Head over the church and receive the Bible and its authority in matters of faith and practice. The beliefs of our congregation are generally in accord with the beliefs of Southern Baptist Churches as indicated in the Baptist Faith and Message. As stated in the preamble to the Baptist Faith and Message, "...the sole authority for faith and practice among Baptists is the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. Confessions are only guides in interpretation, having no authority over the conscience." We also agree with the historical Baptist belief that confessions serve "...as a witness to our beliefs and a pledge of our faithfulness to the doctrines revealed in Holy Scripture."
Having repented of our sins and having trusted in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and being baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we make the following covenant with God and one another. By God’s grace and the help of the Holy Spirit:
We will support the testimony of our church
…by loving God supremely (Deut 6:5)
…by living a Spirit-filled Christ-like life (Eph 5:18)
…by faithfully worshipping together on the Lord’s Day (Heb 10:25)
…by regularly sharing the gospel with unbelievers (Mark 16:15)
…by demonstrating Christ’s love to all people (John 15:12)
…by supporting missions (Psalm 96:3)
We will guard the unity of our church
…by honoring its doctrines (2 Tim 4:3-4)
…by showing love for one another (Col 3:14)
…by ministering to one another (1 Peter 4:10)
…by praying with and for one another (James 5:16)
…by speaking in a way that builds up others (Eph 4:29)
…by following the leaders chosen by the church (Heb 13:17)
We will support the ministries of our church
…by giving generously of our finances (2 Cor 9:7)
…by being equipped to serve (Eph 4:11-12)
…by developing a servant’s heart (Phil 2:3-4)
…by exercising our spiritual gifts in ministry (Rom 12:6-7)
We will, when we move from this place, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
